Impressive Diplomas

ROB KAUFMAN

Rob Kaufman is a third-career writer and mediocre flyfisherman living in Key West, FL. After 25 years in the Air Force and another 15 in cybersecurity, he now tells fish tales and works part-time at a local hardware store. His degrees in electrical engineering, management and national security strategy are of little use in his current pursuits, although the diplomas still look impressive on his “I love me” wall. His creative projects have appeared in multiple publications, including a 7th-grade contribution to Mad Magazine. On any given Saturday, he can be found on a flat, wading to tailing bonefish.

DAVID E. MYERS

David E. Myers lives in Seattle with his wife, Hali. He learned to flyfish in northern Idaho. He earned a doctorate in psychology from Purdue University, studying hunger, satiety and learning, which gave him some insight into why a migrating fish with an atrophied digestive system will still strike a fly. David met Howard Waldrop while working as an administrator of the Clarion West Writers Workshop for science fiction and fantasy writers. Myers’ fiction and nonfiction have been published in Twilight Zone MagazineAlfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet.

NATALIE RHEA

Natalie Rhea is an accomplished director, lifestyle photographer and comedy writer in pursuit of genuine, human-centric stories that lean into the humorous and endearing facets of life. She’s traveled the world shooting for various country musicians, as well as brands including Yeti, Samsung, Tecovas, King Ranch, Traeger Grills, Ooni Pizza Ovens and more. With base camps in Texas and the United Kingdom, when she’s not on a production you can find her hiking mountains, flyfishing and searching for new stories to tell across the globe.

MATT ROBERTS

Matt Roberts is a freelance writer who spent much of his early life in Gig Harbor, WA, roaming beaches, estuaries and islands in search of sea-run cutthroat trout and salmon. Fish-bumming in Pacific Northwest waters and reading Gary Snyder’s epic poem Mountains and Rivers Without End inspired his future literary pursuits. After earning a master’s degree from Eastern Washington University, Roberts published his first collection of poems, A River Once More. His work has appeared in literary journals, magazines and anthologies, including I Sing the Salmon Home: Poems from Washington State. He is a former college English instructor and taught composition and creative writing classes for many years.

ZACH WEINZETL

Zach Weinzetl grew up in Montana but now calls Colorado home. With more than 25 years of experience in guiding and wilderness leadership, he has spent much of his life chasing wild fish across rivers, jungles and coastlines around the world. Working with Fish On Adventuring, Zach organizes destination trips that go beyond catching fish, creating opportunities for meaningful connection between people and the places they travel. His writing explores the intersections of water, culture and personal experience, reflecting a belief that time spent in wild places can shape relationships and perspectives in lasting ways.
