DRIVING TOO FAR, NOT FISHING ENOUGH

AARON AGOSTO
Life has drawn Aaron Agosto increasingly westward from Cape Cod, MA to Pittsburgh, PA, and northwest Montana’s Flathead Valley, which he now calls home. He has worked as a photographer covering stories of the American West for publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian and Esquire Magazine, among others. He didn’t fish enough this year and he ought to change that.


CAMERON EVANS
Cameron Evans is an award-winning writer, editor and conservationist based in Montana. She works full-time leading communications on wildlife, public lands and environmental policy for a conservation organization, and writes about the people and places shaped by the changing American West. Her reporting has appeared in Outdoor Life, Modern Huntsman, USA Today, The Cut, Business Insider, Montana Free Press and others. When she’s not at her desk, she is usually driving too far, sleeping too little and hauling an unreasonable amount of gear toward cold water and wild fish.


JESSICA HAYDAHL RICHARDSON
Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Jessica Haydahl Richardson grew up on the Pacific Ocean, where her passion for storytelling and the outdoors first took shape. She holds a diploma in professional photo imaging and a degree in marketing and advertising and played NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey on scholarship. Now based in Montana, her photography career has spanned two decades and focuses on authentic stories, conservation, outdoor adventure and life on the water, blending documentary and editorial styles. When she’s not on assignment, she’s usually exploring Montana or chasing light with a film camera.


HENRY HUGHES
Henry Hughes grew up on Long Island, NY, and since 2002 has taught literature and writing at Western Oregon University. Hughes is an Oregon Book Award-winning poet, the author of Back Seat with Fish, and the editor of five Everyman’s Library collections, including The Art of Angling and Fishing Stories. A frequent contributor to The American Fly Fisher, he received that journal’s Austin Hogan Award in 2022.


WILL RICE
Will Rice is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in The Flyfish Journal, The Denver Post, The Drake Magazine, Outside, Fly Fusion, Saltwater Fly Fishing, Flylab, and Angling Trade, among others. He is also the creator and host of Down the Path, a narrative true-crime podcast, and was a guest on The Flyfish Journal’s Sidechannels podcast in fall 2025. Originally from upstate New York, Will spent many years in Colorado before relocating to Vancouver, BC, where he lives with his wife, Sara, and their dog, Buzz.
